16 Non-Traditional Wedding Dresses for the Modern Bride

Came across this article and loved some of the points that it made.

Here’s 3 great tips of advice provided:

1) Wear a dress that fits your theme. Getting married at the beach? Opt for a fancy sun dress. Getting married on New Year’s? Definitely go for a dress with lots of gold or silver sparkle.

2) Earn bonus points if you can find a dress that is so non-wedding that you can re-wear it to other events! Get the most you can out of the money you’re spending…weddings are NOT cheap.

3) Above all, wear something you love. This is your day and you should feel like a princess.

They continue to list out 16 great choices in non traditional wedding dresses.  Here are some of our favorites:

Blushing In Pink Tulle Dress - $1,180 (Left)
Part ballerina, part bride… total pretty. Handmade and comes in several other colors.

Papillio Wedding Dress - $279 (Right)
Perfect for a garden wedding, or for any event where you want to look and feel like Tinkerbell.

High Low Hem - $795
The mixture of lace and satin, the asymmetrical hem… we can’t decide what we love most about this dress.

iPad Wedding Dress - $70,000 (estimated)
Design your own wedding dress digitally, and get 100 iPads in the process! This dress doubles as great guest favors! Yes, this one is a joke. But, if you know anyone who has actually done something so geeky, please send them our way.

Trends

Here are some of the latest trends we spotted at the latest Fashion Week in New York. Keep an eye out for these beautiful details in the latest bridal collections.

Ruffles ruffles and more ruffles - This trend is definitely staying and will continue to be HOT for the upcoming season. You will find it on an A-line, mermaid or ballgown, on the neckline, the bodice, or just all over! If you want to wow your guest, this gorgeous, girly frills bring out the drama yet still fun and playful.

3D flowers - We see 3 demensional flowers everywhere on the runway. These small details add interesting dimension to your look. Many designer are putting these delicate small flowers or rosettes add-ons on the shoulder, bodice and waistline.

Long Gloves - this trend is perfect for those fashion forward brides. The gloves are elegant and sexy.

Bold Necklace - with so many strapless options, bold necklace are perfect to add to those bare skin. It draws attention to your face by bringing the eye up and definitely makes a statement. When wearing bold jewelry, remember to silent your other accessories so you don’t look over done.

Ball-gown with natural waistline - Designers are continuously going big this season. You will be seeing be quite a few eye stopper pieces from each designer that play on the retro inspired look using light weight material such as organza and tulle.

Express your individuality

Take it from your everyday to your wedding day. Transform a classic bridal look with the accessories that speaks your personality. After all, today’s bride is as fashion forward, trendsetting and stylish as ever; your jewelry should be too.
Some hot trends we are seeing this season are brooches, cuffs, statement earrings and headbands!
Brooches are versatile and can be use as keepsake or be worn again after your wedding day. You can use the brooch to singe a sash, incorporate it in your hairstyle or simply be dazzled your dress.
Make a statement with just one piece. A cuff bracelet is bold enough to stand on its own. Choose either one very wide bracelet, or customize the look by layering and stacking two or three bangles. Whichever you decide, the effect will be red carpet ready.
Statement earrings can add shimmer and glamour to your look. From chandelier earrings to oversized studs, these pieces can draw attention to the face and not overpower you or your beautiful dress.
Headbands are my absolute favorites of the seaseon and one of the most popular bridal looks this year. This is the perfect chance to add more sparkle to your outfit and works great with any hair styles.

Stay warm in style

Weddings are not just summer affairs anymore. We are definitely seeing more brides choosing to tie the knot in the fall and winter. Imagine the beautiful snow sparkling on the ground, the bride in a fur wrap complementing her beautiful gown. So romantic!
The weather in the winter months could be cold and snowy. So wraps, shrugs, capes, and boleros are all excellent alternatives to keep you cozy on the big day. Snuggle up and cover up with my fabulous finds.

Straps please…

While strapless dresses are still favorable for most brides. We’re definitely seeing more interest in straps. As strapless dresses can leave a large swath of skin bare, sometimes adding straps on the shoulder and frame a girl’s face. Here are options for girls dare to be different and rock the dress with your style.

Chicago Market 2009

Our trip to Chicago was filled with excitement as we checked out the latest in bridal trends.

The trip was a great success and we picked up several new designer lines.  Keep an eye out, we will be announcing our new additions in the near future!

Dress of the month II

1010

Rise above the rest, the gown that stood out from all others belongs to one of my favorite designers is this beautiful A- line gown from Anjolique. The dropped waist elongates the torso and shows off the tiny waist of every bride. Made of incredibly light silk and also featuring a built- in corset, this dress is unbelievably comfortable to wear. The breathtaking detail across the empire is just enough and it is so elegantly placed. From the back, the intricate detail looks like a pair of angel wings which I absolutely love it!

For a bride dreaming for a fairy tale wedding looking like modern Cinderella, this is definitely THE GOWN! It is so simple yet very elegant.
